Iraq Peace & Democracy?
Based upon the lies of Bush and Blair, both Britain and America, without any UN mandate, illegally invaded two Middle Eastern countries, Afghanistan and Iraq. We were told within a day or so of 9/11 that Iraq harboured Al-Qaeda terrorists, helping train them and giving safe havens. We were told that Iraq held weapons of mass destruction and was about to use them. All these claims have now been exposed as lies told us by our US and UK Governments. The real reason why Afghanistan was invaded was to build a huge gas pipeline spanning the country, something which the Taliban Government refused to do when asked by the US Government - see
www.whatreallyhappened.com.
What part of these lies don't you remember?
Following the days of 911, we were bombarded in the media with claims by British and American politicans, in particular Bush and Blair. Remember their claims? All contained within the video clip below, to remind us of them.
And still the lies go on!
Early in September Bush made a surprise 'photo opportunity' visit to Iraq. But it is clear that the talk of troop reductions is just that, talk but no real intention. It is very clear that Bush has no plans, nor did he ever, to pull troops out. An angry but quite correct Keith Olbermann of MSNBC Television, made recent comments as follows:
It's all about oil!
Iraq is a country which holds the third largest reserves of world oil - see
Oil Rich Countries. Note also that Iran holds immense reserves, and Bush and his neo-cons are currently manipulating public opinion to support an illegal invasion of this country in an effort to secure its oil resources too. It is an international crime to mount illegal wars on other nations, and both Bush and Blair (together with their cronies involved in these acts) can only be regarded as prima-facie war criminals and should be tried as such for these crimes. The ultimate gross travesty is that Blair has now, since his resignation as Prime Minister of the UK, been appointed "Peace Envoy" for the Middle East!!
Result?
Because of the manipulation of the news by the mainstream media, people in Britain are not shown the real horrors of what we are doing in Iraq and Afghanistan in our names, bringing so called 'peace and democracy'. We all share part of the blame, although, of course, many of us are kept blissfully unaware by the media. But the true criminals are those in our Governments who are ordering this be done in our names, and those politicians who continue to support this illegal war, both by voting for it and also by remaining silent if opposed to it. Since we illegally invaded these countries, which have never threatened or invaded our own country, it is estimated that over 1 million innocent Iraqi civilians have been killed - see

Peace and Democracy?
This is the peace and democracy 'we' have brought to Iraq. Warning, some of these images are graphic and shocking:
The Real News
The Real Story. So just how does television news in the western world normally cover Iraq? Do they get the facts rights? Do they get the context?
The Real Story examines how television news covers a story and then goes beyond the headlines.
Join Senior Editor Paul Jay with journalist and writer Eric Margolis as they discuss the coverage of the civil war in Iraq. Margolis says: “The United States has played a major role in fueling the civil war, something the American media is not telling the American people.”

Just Comfortably Numb
A searing look at the realities of the war in Iraq by Kelly Gallaher is shown below. All the images are real and heartbreaking, with photos ranging from those on personal blogs to Pulitizer Prize winners. The use of the music "Comfortably Numb" performed by Dar Williams was inspired by the absence of visual representation of the Iraq war from newscasts and newspapers, leaving mainstream Britain (and America) both comfortable and numb to the grim horror of war taking place while we go about our lives. Ironically, while this film was being edited for use on YouTube and MySpace, the military restricted access to these websites for soldiers stationed in Iraq.....
